How it’s calculated
Both dates are placed on the Gregorian calendar and the number of midnights between them is counted. The target day itself is not counted, so the day before an event shows "1 day".
Example: from 5 October 2026 to Christmas (25 December 2026): 26 days left in October + 30 in November + 25 in December = 81 days, which is 11 weeks and 4 days, or 2 months (to 5 December) and 20 days.
If the target is in the past, the calculator shows how long ago it was.
Frequently asked questions
Is today counted?
No. The count is the number of days you must wait: on 24 December there is 1 day until Christmas.
How are months counted?
Whole calendar months from the start date, then the remaining days. If the start day does not exist in a month (e.g. the 31st), the last day of that month is used.
Does it use my time zone?
The "today" default uses your device’s local date. The count itself is in whole calendar days.
